Aug. 12th, 2006 08:21 pmOne of the horses keeps managing to open his gate somehow. It's a fairly complicated latch involving a lifting and sliding motion, which the horse has figured out how to do with his mouth. I'm pretty irritated by this. He's done it three times in the past two days. I'll hear the dogs barking, walk outside, and see him happily grazing (without a halter).
The first time, I approached him and he took off running -- a fun little game. I ended up having to corner him and tempt him with food. The second time, I left him out there, and when I came back in the morning, someone had put him back in his stall. Now he is out again! I may just leave him there, because I'm not inclined to chase a horse around the yard again, in the dark, gasping and wheezing.
