Nov. 18th, 2007 10:35 pmThe newly acquired wireless internet (yes, valid wireless!) works like this:
Our main computer, originator of the Signal, is on the opposite end of the house from my bedroom. I imagine the Signal to span out into ever weakening rings, like ripples upon still water. My ideal location for optimal wireless internetting is cozied up in bed, back against the pillows, laptop atop my lap (as it should be). My bed, hence my back, is pushed against the furthest wall, feet facing toward the rest of the house and toward the main computer. The prime ring of my imagined Signal span takes a significant nosedive in strength right about where my shins lie in bed. Obviously, this is too far away. Bringing the laptop closer turns my green bars yellow. Moving my body forward requires me to sit upright, robbing me of the luxury of reclining against pillows. Therein lies the rub. I think I'll go read a book instead.
