Feb. 22nd, 2008 04:12 amI tried going to sleep around 2 a.m. but there was some dull vibration something-or-other going on in my bedroom, making it feel like my head was about to explode. The faint impression of wind rushing by my ears, only quieter, but still filling my brain. I tossed and turned, stuck my fingers in my ears, turned the fan off, turned the light on, sat up, lay down again. It was all the same. The vibration wouldn't stop.
The dogs were barking, so I got up and let them outside. I stood in the driveway and everything was quiet; everything was bright. The moon was out; the floodlights were on. I tried turning the floodlights off as I went back to my room, but none of the switches worked.
Back in my bedroom, the vibration was worse than ever, so I grabbed my pillow and blankets and brought them to the couch. All was quiet.
Then, while on the couch, the vibration started back again. (I think it's rocket engine testing several miles away. Or aliens. Or a nasty ear infection.)
And now it's quiet, but I still can't sleep.
